I don't know how easy it was for you to get stations to play your show back in the 80's. You probably got WNUA back then because it was known as a station that played unique music and was centered around a new age theme. In those days it was cool to be unique and different and the station drew in this type of crowd. Perhaps you had a lot of success with those types of stations. Your program TOTALLY fit the format. In fact, during the commercial break, WNUA would sometimes run a commercial that said, "If you like the places Musical Starstreams takes you, take them with you to work tommorow..." and then they would play a sample of some of the artists played during the day and demonstrate how similar it was to your show.
New age no longer exists, and WNUA has a different format. It is no longer cool to be unique and different, in fact I find the opposite is true. More than ever before, people are trying to "stay in the norm". Even kids seem to be bought by what kind of music they should listen to. We are kind of in a mini-dark age where individuality is not good.
But still, you have a huge market place out there for your music! All the unique people like myself haven't decided to turn into cows and start following what the rest of the heard is doing. Most of us are underground now. That's why I think your best bet right now is to contact as many small radio stations on the left side of the dial through the country as you can. I've heard these stations before and their idea is to supply music that the big top 40 stations would never play. I'm thinking maybe the commercials featured on those stations wouldn't bring you much money, but your advertisements for the web-site and waveform records would certainly draw some curious people -- people who just might want to buy your inventory of music on Waveform.
Your doing business differently this way. No longer are you drawing most of your money from big stations playing your show. Now you would be featuring your music to a huge audience throughout the United States... more people, more customers for Waveform records.
Musical Starstreams: A source for cutting edge music and a place where uniqueness is at cutting edge!
