Rock and Roll hit's it's apogee in the late 60's, jazz has devolved into "Smooth Jazz" (some of which is pretty good, but mostly bland), pop went to bubble gum and disco then got even worse with rap and hip-hop. Classical has been stale since Aaron Copeland died and most of what is played was actually written before the 20th Century. Mannheim Steamroller's Fresh Aire series was good but Chip Davis seemed to, well, run out of steam. The only new genre in the last 10 years is "Chill" music but even that is getting repetitive and formulaic. No wonder we turn to Forest and "Musical Starstreams" for "Exotic Electronica". He always finds new material and that's what keeps it interesting.
